Hummy Yummy

Experimenting with my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens and an extension tube. The focal range sucks but the images are awesomely dreamy.

Coyote to get this type of effect I use photoshop cs4 but it's time consuming and loose a lot of the properties of the image. Instead this type of lens seems to be exactly what I'm looking for.
Great shot you got here!

I have to be honest with you. If you've never done any macro work, it's quite challenging. I do it the hard way, which means I don't use a tripod or a flash or small apertures. The closer I get to my subject, the less depth of field I get. Sometimes it's just the width of an insect's antenna. Once I achieve focus, I hold my breath and try to hold perfectly still, but even the beat of my heart can move my body enough to loose focus. No one believes all my macro work is hand held. I don't even own a tripod. But when I got my first macro lens, I didn't know all the tricks the pros use. I just taught myself in a way that worked for me. As I've gotten older, my hands are not quite as steady, so I had to increase the shutter speed I use from 1/200 to 1/400. Nowadays, I could really use 1/800 but then I'd have to increase my ISO too much, which results in too much 'noise' in my photos. I'm saving money for a newer camera that doesn't create noise at higher ISOs. That would be wonderful!
